License types play a crucial role in granting permissions to users based on specific customer requirements. With OvalEdge Release 6.1, several upgraded license types have been implemented to enhance user experiences and cater to diverse needs. Let's explore the various license types and features:

Platform License

The Platform License is determined by the number of connectors utilized and the high-level features associated with each connector. Here are the different connector features:

1. Base Connector: All connectors automatically come with a Base Connector License.

2. Auto Lineage Add-On: Customers can build lineages using the Auto Lineage Add-On license if a connector supports Auto-lineage.

3. Data Quality Add-On: Connectors supporting Data Quality features such as DQ Rule and Anomaly detection require the Data Quality Add-On License to utilize these features.

4. Data Access Add-On: Customers who wish to enforce connector access through OvalEdge for connectors supporting Remote Data Access Management (RDAM) must purchase the Data Access Add-On license. When applied, this license enables access to RDAM features for the respective connector.

User License

OvalEdge offers two types of user licenses: Viewers and Authors.

1. Viewers: This basic license allows users to browse, search, and view data within the OvalEdge platform.

2. Authors: Users with an Author license have comprehensive access, allowing them to perform almost all actions within the OvalEdge platform.

License Key Information

The OvalEdge license key contains the following information:

• Number of Connectors

• Number of Auto Lineage Add-Ons

• Number of Data Quality Add-Ons

• Number of Data Access Add-Ons

• Number of Viewers

• Number of Authors

• Expiration Date

OvalEdge monitors these license key parameters within the customer environment. If any of the numbers mentioned above exceed the allocated license limit, a warning message will be displayed to all users as a header in the OvalEdge application.

License Implementation

For connector licenses, the Add-Ons can be modified at the connector level during the setup process.

User licenses, on the other hand, are set up at both the User and Role levels. Roles can be designed with specific permissions based on their license type. A user can only be assigned to a role if their User License is equal to or greater than the license assigned to the role. The license hierarchy is as follows: Author > Viewer.

By implementing these license types and upgrades in OvalEdge Release 6.1, customers can tailor their platform experience according to their specific needs and efficiently manage user permissions.
