About OvalEdge 5.1.4

The OvalEdge 5.1.4 is the latest release improvised with a new RACI feature to add multiple users under different predefined RACI Roles to publish the term and it has been upgraded with the Router Framework functionality that enables the users to navigate to the previous tabs using the browser navigation buttons. The current application is also improvised with the auto-refresh job which automatically updates the status of the particular job every 10 seconds without any manual intervention. 

In this release, the Data Catalog and Business Glossary modules user interface is upgraded with more filters and eye icon options to view or hide/unhide the desired data. This release boosts the existing Governance Catalogue, My Resources, Jobs, Advanced Tools, and Administration modules with the recommended customer feasibility features and requirements.    

In the 5.1.4 release, the critical and major bugs associated with the Data Catalog, Dashboard, Governance Catalog, Advanced Tools, Administration, and Connectors, issues are fixed and working as expected.

Features

  • RACI Enhancement
    The Business Glossary- Term is enhanced with a new RACI feature to add multiple users under different predefined (R- Responsible A- Accountable C- Consulted I-Informed) Roles to publish the term with the RACI assigned users.
  • Router Framework 
    The Router Framework enables the users to navigate to the previous tabs using the browser navigation buttons. Here the system saves every user selection and helps the user to easily identify from which tab the navigation is performed. This feature also helps the user to bookmark the particular tab for future reference. 
  • Auto Refresh for Job Log Status
    The OvalEdge application is improvised with the auto-refresh job which automatically updates the status of the particular job every 10 seconds without any manual intervention. 
  • Table Plugin Update
    The Data Catalog - Table, is enhanced to view the active filter selected upfront on the table page and helps the users to hide or unhide the active filter using the View Active Filters and Hide Filters options. Here the Filter on the columns is also enhanced with the advanced search options to filter the desired data and a new sort icon is included for the columns along with a filter or search option to view user required data
  • Service Desk Enhancement
    The Security-Approval WorkFlow is now enhanced with sharing the workflow to multiple approvers with the help of RACI-enabled configuration. Here when the user initiates the workflow to multiple approvers a notification is sent to that particular approver to publish the Term.

  • Home

    • Home Page > Tags > Sort Icon

      In the Home page, using a sort icon now users can view the Tags in alphabetical order. 

    • Tags

      The tag feature is enhanced to add a tag to the data objects in the data catalog page and summary page.

    • Global Search

      The Global Search feature is enhanced to perform a quick search of data objects in the internal page or the entire application. 

    • General

      In the application, all the dropdown menus, filters, and search options now provide the result in alphabetical order.

  • Data Catalog 

    • In the Data Catalog, the navigation Back button is provided for the user to navigate to the previous pages.

    • In the Data Catalog, a filter icon is provided for the user to perform filter and search on the Global custom field configured at the global level. 

    • In the Data Catalog > Table, when a filter is applied on the tabular screen now users can view the active filter selected upfront on the table page, and similarly, users can clear filters by using the clear filter button.

    • In the Data Catalog page, users can now add all data objects at once in a project to the watchlist.

  • Business Glossary 

    Display of Global Custom Field as columns in UI along with search option and Eye Icon to hide/add columns.

    • In a Business Glossary page, from a custom field column, a user can select or search a custom field and navigate to a new page. 

    • In a Business Glossary page, using the eye icon button, users also have the option to hide or unhide columns of a business glossary page.

  • Projects

    • Project > Invite User Form

      In a Project, the Invite Users form allows users to invite multiple people to a project. The Invite User form is improvised by inviting the user based on the username and user role.

  • Governance Catalog

    • Governance Catalog > Data Quality Rule

      In the DQR module, now users can create a rule and add a tag to the rule and view this DQR result by using the DQR icon provided in the ribbon of the Tag Home page. 

    • Governance Catalog > Data Classification > Download Icon

      In all the pages of  Data Classification, a user can download the data assets with the help of the newly provided Click to Download icon at the bottom of every page. 

    • Governance Catalog > Service Desk > New Service Request page

      In the New Service Request page, now when a new request is raised by default its priority is set at “Low”. 

    • Governance Catalog > Service Desk 

      In the Service Desk page, users can track the number of tickets raised on the data assessment. 

  • My Resources

    • My Resources > Inbox > Collaboration 

      The Inbox collaboration of message links is now included in the table name.

    • My Resources > Inbox > Select All

      In the Inbox page, the 'Select All' button is provided for the user to select all the messages received in the inbox and perform the task of either mark as done or delete action.

    • My Resources > Inbox > Pagination

      In the Inbox, a pagination option is provided for the user to navigate through the list of messages when it extends 20 messages per page. 

    • My Resources > Inbox

      In the Inbox page, users can now see the list of messages by name of the data object.

  • Jobs

    • Jobs > Log Value

      In the Jobs, the user is now able to view the detailed job logs executed in the Log Value window.

    • Jobs > Change Status

      In a Configuration > User & Roles page, user-based permission is configured to access the jobs that have been initiated and the user can change the status in the Jobs page by the Change Status button.

  • Advanced Tools

    • Advanced Tools > OvalEdge APIs > Query API Delete Button

      Query API is enhanced with the Delete query button that allows a user to delete a query.

  • Administration

    • Administration > Advanced Job > 9 dots > Edit enhancement

      In Advanced Job,  the Edit Advance Job(Type) popup feature is updated to show the 'help description' of the type of advanced job being edited. Here the Help information is also provided under the title for users to read the description of the job under modification.

    • Administration > Audit Trails > Object Name

      In a Term page of Audit Trial, a hyperlink is provided so that the user can select any  Terms or Tag in a column of "Object Name" 

    • Administration > Security

      In the Security page, Folders, Report Groups, Domain & DAG have filter icons that can be used to narrow down the search results.

    • Administration > Custom Fields

      In a Custom Field page, users can select a Connection from the dropdown and then select Object Type from the dropdown which is arranged in a specified order.

    • Administration > Security > Folder > Provide search for Connection Name

      In the Folder page, a search icon is provided on a column of a connection name to search for a connection name as per the user convenience. 

    • Administration > Crawler > Setting Page

      In the Crawler setting page, usability is enhanced and categorized for users to navigate between multiple tabs.

    • Administration > Configuration

      The Configuration page is enhanced with the categorization of configurations into sub-tasks based on similar functionality for easy navigation between types of configuration.

    • Administration > Configuration > System Path > Value

      In the Configuration page, a user can download the file by specifying the download path in the Value column of the System path.


Connectors

  • Crawler > Connectors > New Connection > Manage Connection

    • The Manage Connection is improvised with the following feature: 

      - A user can view the connector's name in the GroupWise Classification.

      - Connectors are now displayed in a popup window with Search Capabilities.

  • SAP Table connector 

    In the SAP Table connection, the user is now able to view the data after the crawling and profiling action.


Bug Fixes

  1. Dashboard 
    1. In the Dashboard module, the issue related to the display of the Lineage screen according to the customer selection is now fixed and working as expected.
  2. Data Catalog
    1. In the Data Catalog > Reports module, the issue related to the complete display of Schema names is now fixed and working as expected.
    2. In the Data Catalog > Databases module, the issue related to the fetching of top values for a Column under the Table - Schema is now fixed and working as expected.
  3. Business Glossary
    1. In the Business Glossary module, the issue related to providing access for the Administrator adding a tag to a Term in Business Glossary even if it's in Published status is now fixed and working as expected.
  4. Governance Catalog
    1. In the Governance Catalog > Data Quality Rule module, the issue related to the display of null point exception error while checking logs is now fixed and working as expected.
    2. In the Governance Catalog > Data Quality Rule module, the issue related to the display of appropriate error logs like execution fail in jobs is now fixed and working as expected.
  5. Query Sheets
    1. In the Query Sheet module, the issue related to the continuous display of permission credential pop-up is now fixed and working as expected.
  6. Advanced Tools
    1. In the Advanced Tools > Load Metadata from Files module, the issue related to the Download of file templates with the sample names is now fixed and working as expected. 
    2. In the Advanced Tools > Impact Analysis, while adding the Affected Objects the issue related to the display of the existing databases in the system is now fixed and working as expected.  
  7. Administration 
    1. In the Administration > User Manager module, the issue related to the display of the Add User button in the disable mode is now fixed and working as expected.
    2. In the Administration > Security module, the issue related to the read-only permissions at the Apply Security Level is now fixed and working as expected.
  8. Connectors
    1. In the Administration > Crawler module, the issue related to the Non-Regex include/exclude not supporting for “startswith”, “endswith” using % is now fixed and working as expected.
    2. In the Administration > Crawler > Airflow Connector, the issue related to the building Lineage is now fixed and working as expected.
    3. In the Administration > Crawler > Tableau Connector, the issue related to the functioning of the back button and Column Lineage overlapping is now fixed and working as expected.
    4. In the Administration > Crawler > SQL Server Connector, the query timeout exception while profiling the “dbo schema” is now fixed and working as expected.
