Data Stories Migration

OvalEdge has introduced a new advanced job called "Data Stories Migration" to make transferring data stories between environments easier. This feature helps users manage data stories across different platforms.

This document explains how to:

  • Export and import data stories between environments
  • Configure attributes to upload files to the production (PROD) environment

Follow the steps in this guide to efficiently move data stories and set up file uploads in OvalEdge.

Data Stories Migration Advanced Job

This Advanced Job is designed to transfer Data Stories from one environment to another. It lets users download Data Stories from the source environment and upload them to the target environment using the same job.

Enter Upload or Download:  Specify "Upload" or "Download" based on the action. For Download, mention the below attributes,

  • Enter Story Zone Name or IDs with comma-separated values: Enter Story Zone Names or IDs with comma-separated values (optional).
  • Enter Story Names or IDs with Comma Separated Values: Enter Story Names or IDs with comma-separated values (optional).

For Upload, mention the below attributes,

  • Enter Connection ID:  Enter File Server Connection ID (optional).
  • Enter File Path for Upload: Enter the file path.

Note: Enter the file name followed by the file path.

Upon entering all the required fields, click on the update button.

Run the Advance Job

Select the advanced job Data Stories Migration and click on the Run Advance Job on the top right corner.

This will trigger a Job ID, and upon successful completion, it will show the job status as successful.

Note: In the data stories, if you have any Users/objects / Projects tagged, they won't be available in the uploaded environment because they retain the IDs of the previous environment; rendering navigation to tagged objects is impossible.

Conclusion

Use the Data Stories Migration job to move data stories between environments quickly. Follow the steps to configure settings and run the job.
